Border inspection authorities across the country checked 13.52 million entries and exits for domestic and foreign individuals, with an average of 1.69 million per day, during the Spring Festival holiday, which lasted from Feb 10 to Saturday, the National Immigration Administration announced on Sunday.

The total border crossings this year represented a 2.8-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023, and nearly reached 90 percent of the same period in 2019.

They also inspected 459,000 crossings of transportation vehicles, including ships, trains and vehicles during this period, marking a year-on-year 1.6-fold increase.

Land ports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area saw significant traffic, accounting for 73.1 percent of the total entry and exit volume nationwide.

During the holiday, daily passenger trips at land ports such as Gongbei in Zhuhai and Luohu and Futian in Shenzhen reached 260,000, 187,000 and 158,000 respectively.

Airport ports experienced rapid growth in entry and exit volumes, with daily passenger flows reaching 88,000 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, up 4.9 times year-on-year; 37,000 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, up 6.2 times year-on-year; and 34,000 at Beijing Capital International Airport, up 7.5 times year-on-year.
